    Finally should trvs be considered for bathrooms or wc's or kitchens or rooms with room thermostat. Told Trvs should not go into any of those rooms. Presume no underfloor heating. Do programmable Trvs really offer any benefit unless room temp needing constant adjustments

    What modern system boilers can tell you whyer they are condensing. If not what DIY way can you test this delta level if boiler on and room temp set

    Same question but this time fairly new ideal logic max 30kw system boiler plus old programmable control but house heat loss likely 13-14kw

    Do Bosch Worcester new system boilers allow for any benefit as no opentherm and I was told weather compensation needs Bosch thermostats. Installed new Bosch system boiler+ hives as no opentherm anyway on boiler ( not my choice). Would adding weather compensation be of any benefit? Home heating loss about 8kw.

    Nice video, same like others on your channel, and keep them coming. However, you must admit on some level you are as bias as that CEO. Them companies, obviously will have a good reason to say why you shouldn't get a heat pump, regardless of what house you're living in, however when you want to make a video supporting the heat pump industry, and keep yourself objective, more information should be brought into conversation. If I am to swap my 200kwh with 700kwh, will definitely have to add the cost of investment/maintenance etc. For a house(regardless of age), with a combi boiler, decent radiators and/or newish water tank system, replacing any fault boiler, shouldn't cost more than £2k, if. How much is to install, replace or even maintenance of a heat pump system??!.... And I'm not even add the risk of having a plumber with little knowledge who will do a botch job, and that is priceless. Find a heat pump system, easy to install, easy to set up, easy to use, not expensive parts to replace and make a video please. Then you will give to any CEO something to think about in a unbias kind of manner. Dont think they exist yet. Cheers

    Fantastic install. Agree with the simplification, but doesn't this mean the max floor temp will be 40degC? Too hot for some floor coverings. Why no mixing valve on the UFH manifold to reduce the UFH temperature?

    How is the UFH performing without insulation? I'm thinking about doing the same at mine, was curious to know how it is going? I feel the same as will act as huge thermal mass. Additionally if the solid floor (uninsulated) is factored in with the heat loss and as consequence the pump is adequately sized, there shouldn't be any issues. Cheers

    I'm just moving into a 1970 house detached 4 bed house. It's got oil heating because there is no mains gas here. The boiler is old and pretty much everything in the house will need updating. I'm thinking of ditching the oil and adding heatpump and pv panels. Maybe a battery and maybe even Sunamp Thermino ? But the house also needs some building work, likely some extending. Eventually we might go for external wall insulation but it makes sense to do this after all the other building work is done. In the meantime I want to get the heating sytems etc. instlled in the house. (We've got to live in the house while all the work is going on.) So contrary to the advice, can we install the heatpump etc. BEFORE we get the house all fully insulated ? If so, is it possible to get the £7500 funding on this basis ? And also @UrbanPlumbers, can you work in Cornwall ?

  • @teepee9466

    What software do you use to calculate the heat loss from the building, and what external temperature do you assume vs. Internal temperature? It could be a really interesting video to see how you do the design for a typical house or a case study of a system you have designed.

    You would expect larger installation companies to have the advantage of being able to organise the right training for all their employees according to whether they are designing or installing etc. In practice I doubt many are making that investment and just rely on 1 or 2 people with enough knowledge to specify a functioning system and installers with the outdated current industry qualifications. Was certainly my experince of looking for a solar installer. ( and don't get me started on sales people with no clue about the product they are selling)

  • @jabberwockytdi8901
    @jabberwockytdi8901 9 дней назад

    I feel it would be more correct to say there is less convection with the heated skirting rather then none, you still have a heated surface which will result in the warmed air rising and being replaced with colder air from floor level in the middle of the room. It's no different to the lower convection you get from any given radiator when you reduce the flow temp from say 60 on a gas boiler to 40 deg on a heat pump.

  • @RayMurtagh

    Hi, I have just purchased and fitted a dual channel HIVE system for my oil fired central heating and it is almost working 100%....but there was no wire behind my old analogue Honeywell controller for water....just 3 wires...L N and the common for live transfer so in effect if I hit the hot water option it just comes on at the switch as I can't heat water separately and never could unless it was the immersion in the hot press. Does this system require additional wiring to the receiver to turn on the immersion? Otherwise am I right in saying that the water option only is redundant? Hope all that makes sense. So when I turn on the heating the oil burner fires up outside and heats both radiators and water simultaneously but I just don’t see anyway of heating water separately with only 3 wires at the controller. Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    £600-800? my 4 bed semi 1960x build with 8mm copper and combi boiler was ~£360 last year (May 2023-May 2024) that includes £100 standing charge, HG quote to switch to Heat Pump is around £9k after gov grant, and that doesn't include re-piping the house which additional £3.5k. My annual consumption ~6000kWh, even I run with 500% efficiency, that would cost me £324 per year. So fantastic saving of £36 a year with payoff period of around 250-350 years. If I put £9k aside and lets imagine earn 5-6% interest, in 350 years it will be £234,691,404,461.51 with buying power £7,541,687. What is my take? Heat pump is an awesome technology, ruined by manufactures selling them super overpriced and installers charging an arm and a leg. My 3.2kW air-to-air unit costs £1200 with the installation, it is a variable heat pump also, I would say even more complicated than any Air-to-Water as there are 2 blocks, but we used to them, so prices are reasonable.

    Thanks for the mention Szymon! Yes the output of the ThermaSkirt 2 pipe system is around 60w/m of radiant heat with, like you said very little convection. As the skirting is delivering at a low level around the room, there is a high level of thermal comfort relative to the overall output... and don't forget, if the property is poorly insulated ThermaSkirt can be used in conjunction with normal sized rads to minimuse the impact on room space! :D Keep up the awesome work!

    Have I understood you correctly, that Vaillant rates its heat pumps at -7 deg C? Does it mean when calculated bivalent point for a detached building is 6,1-6,5 kW at -6/-7, a 75/6A arotherm plus should be the right choice, then? Will your system use additional heater, haven't seen any internal unit at your installation (like MEH)? Thumb up from PL.
